A fabulous place to visit here in Flamborough is RSPB The Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve and Seabird Centre, home to one of the UK’s top wildlife spectacles.
Around a half-a-million seabirds - including gannets, puffins, kittiwakes and razorbills - flock here in the spring and summer to raise their families. There are six, safe, cliff top viewpoints for you to stop at for spectacular views of the nesting seabirds and the dramatic coastline. Three of the viewpoints are fully accessible with a hard surfaced path linking them in a circular route.
Many of our holiday homeowners here at our holiday park in Flamborough visit here time and time again, as there is much to see here all year round. In the spring, the breeding seabirds start to return, including gannets, puffins, guillemots, razorbills, fulmars, kittiwakes, herring gulls and shags. Porpoises can often be seen on calm days while early morning visits may provide sightings of roe deer.
In the summer, the seabird breeding season is in full swing as nearly half a million seabirds hover around the cliffs and then as we head into September and October the autumnal migration can be exciting at Bempton Cliffs owing to its coastal location and being on a headland.
If you fancy learning more then the Seabird Centre at the heart of the reserve tells the story of the wildlife on the cliffs and why a wide variety of birds make their home here. It’s easy to spend a full day at Bempton, as together with the visitor centre and the Seabird Centre there are nature trails, a picnic area and café.
